Mike: With all the comings and goings in the Halifax music scene, I think that probably Plumtree is the longest running band currently in Halifax. And it doesn't seem that long ago that I did the first interview with them when they were all still in high school. But, they're all grown up now, they've got a new CD out, and will be starting a national tour at the end of this month, and they will have a new video out, though we don't have it yet, we'll be playing it for you in a couple of weeks. We got together with Catriona and Amanda to talk about the state of Plumtree, and here's that conversation with Plumtree, here on MuchEast.

Mike: You're putting out your third record now and I get the feeling the band's growing up. You're doing, musically, all these things that sort of different from other bands.

Amanda: (Laughing) It's kind of like more of the same. No, well, that's a really cheesy thing, it seems that every interview with us or article since this album came out has been "Plumtree have all grown up and you sort of [sighs]. But I think it's different because we've been grown up for a little while now.

Amanda: and if you haven't been keeping track of our live shows, or our new songs and that kind of thing, and you just have our last album as a reference point, it's definetly a different picture. It's just pretty relaxed, just alot more mellow and you can kinda tell we took alot more time with the songs, it's not like the mood isn't as frantic, it's just a little more reflective. I don't know if this is the right word, but it's a little more honest. I think it sounds a little more like us, I mean obviously, we worked really hard on it with mixing, it's not just live off the floor, but I think it has more of that feel, we just wanted to sound a bit more down to earth.

Mike: I was thinking of an interview that Chris Murphy did that aired on the show last week with Rick of The Skins and Chris said that he was jealous of thier band in that they all hung out together, they all went to the gym together, they practically lived together. Then he turned around and said you know that's going to get in. Is this band as close as I've always assumed it is?

Catriona: This Day Won't Last At All. No, we're really close, we have a great relationship, but, I think our friendship is also really rounded by having a good working relationship, which affects the way you relate to each other. So it means that you can stand being in a small van together for seven weeks or it means that you can stand being in stressfull situations. We're great friends and I think over time we'll become even more so.

Catriona: I think also, The Price Is Right, in the back of my mind, when we're in L.A. (Laughs) You know, a little gambling, a little... California.

Amanda: That's my dream, that's my thing, to go on the Price Is Right.

Catriona: To come on down. I'm really excited for the year coming up, I'm really happy with the album and I just hope people can found about it, and we have a webpage and another video.

Amanda: We just shot a video for Regret.

Catriona: Which you can request.

Amanda: It's not done yet.

Mike: Now, when people come out to the shows, is there anything specific you want them to bring, like gifts, or offer to the band? The true fans?

Catriona: If you're a true fan, you can join the Plumtree chat group, and it would be like Sloanet, but there is now an official group of Plumtree fans who chat about us and you can join, there's a webpage. Just surf around through the webpages and you'll find out where it is. The true fans bring thier portable computers so they can update the chat list to the show as they watch it.

Mike: Well that's nice but I thik for any band on the road what they really need are clean socks, so I say, if you're going to see a band, bring clean socks.

Amanda: (Laughing) What are you saying about my socks?

Mike: Nothing they're clean.

Amanda: Do you like them? (Pulls up pant leg to reveal socks with the word "Slut" written across the top)

Mike: Yeah, though they might be hard to find.
